What does the Qur’an say about the finality of Prophethood?

The concept of the finality of Prophethood is rooted in Surah Al-Ahzab (33:40), where Allah states: “Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the Seal of the Prophets (Khatam an-Nabiyyin).” This verse is unambiguous and universally understood by scholars to mean that no new prophet will come after Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

Throughout Islamic history, from the time of the Sahabah (companions) to present-day scholars, this verse has been used as definitive proof against any claims of Prophethood after the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The hadith literature further reinforces this, with multiple narrations explicitly stating that there will be no prophet after him.

The claim of Prophethood by any individual post-Muhammad is, therefore, not just theologically incorrect but also a major innovation (bid'ah) in the religion. It disrupts the core structure of Islamic belief and leads to the formation of sects like Qadiyaniat.

The Qadiyaniat resources on Emaan-e-Kamil examine the tafsir (exegesis) of this verse and others, providing clear and accessible information for those looking to strengthen their understanding of Islamic theology.
